ABOUT
On March 28, 2021, I flipped over the handlebars of my bike, hit the ground head first, and hyperextended my neck. I sustained an incomplete spinal injury called central cord syndrome that resulted in paralysis below my neck. After spending eight days in the neurology ICU and then intermediate care unit at UVA University Hospital, I was transferred to inpatient rehab at Sheltering Arms Institute in Richmond, VA. I am writing this blog, with the help of my youngest daughter Christine, to document my recovery as I work to regain feeling and movement.
