The more things change...

It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly three months since my last update. It just seems like there wasn’t much change to report (other than a great trip to the Virgin Islands with Linda's family).

As I stated in March, my neuropathy (all the burning sensations, tingling in the legs and toes, deep itch in the back, and my spasms) had greatly abated. But, along with that, my walking became more difficult; a delayed response in my right hip made my gait increasingly uneven and has slowed me down.

On May 4, based on the suggestion of my doctor, I began a B-vitamin complex that is shown to aid in the healing of nerves. I chose a product called NerveRenew. Since then my neuropathy, to quote Firesign Theater, “came roaring back to me like the hot kiss at the end of a wet fist!” The heat sensations in my back, cold in my arms, tingling in my legs, and full-body spasms have returned. The good news is that the literature that came with the pills warned that symptoms may become worse when you first start taking it. They were right!

The literature also said this is a good thing—it suggests that the product is working. I should see noticeable improvement within four months. I've already noticed a marked improvement in my gait. I believe the NerveRenew by itself has made a difference, but it has also made the work I'm doing with my physical therapist more effective.

Hopefully, in a couple more months, I can post another story of great improvement.

Always a positive spin-making lemonade from lemons! Great to hear your update, and glad you got away to Virgin Islands!
